The Concerned Citizens Movement has returned to power in the Nevis Island Administration under the leadership of Mark Brantley. The CCM leader has been sworn into his position as the Premier of Nevis for the second consecutive term.
The NIA hosted the swearing-in ceremony for the position of premier on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. The swearing in ceremony was presided over by Deputy Governor General Hyleeta Liburd. The newly re-elected premier, Mark Brantley shared the ceremony update on his social media profile.
He wrote, expressing his feelings about the swearing-in ceremony. He noted that he was “Humbled this morning to be sworn in as the 4th Premier of Nevis and for my second term as the head of Government in Nevis.”
Further, Mark Brantley thanked the people of Nevis with the words: I say thank you yet again to the people of Nevis for reposing their trust and confidence in me and our beloved CCM Party.
In the recently concluded Local Assembly elections in Nevis, The Concerned Citizens Movement has claimed their victory in three out of the total five electoral districts that they had contested.
From Electoral District 1, Spencer Brand managed to get re-elected into the Nevis Island Assembly with 631 votes to his credit. Spencer Brand had a voter turnout of 50.9%. He defeated The Nevis Reformation Party Candidate Jaedee Caines, who received 604 votes. The NRP Politician had a voter turnout of about 48.7%
In electoral district 3, Eric Evelyn has received a landslide victory for his second term. He secured 736 votes over his opponent, Rohan Isles’ 311, to make his way to the Nevis Island Assembly as the re-elected representative. He ensured a total voters turnout of 69.6
The Constituents of Electoral District 2 have re-elected Mark Brantley as their representative. Brantley tasted victory with a total of 1313 votes to his credit. Meanwhile, Dr Patricia Bartlette of the Nevis Reformation Party secured 1166 votes, and Samuel Caines of the Moral Restoration Movement received 17 votes.
