Cabinet of Ministers approved the appointment of the Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis board of directors.
According to the Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis Act, the Director’s Board must consist of seven Directors. The designations include the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and five additional members.
The newly elected government of St Kitts and Nevis is confident that the newly appointed Directors will be influential in professionally administering the Bank’s affairs, establishing sound policies for management, and making rational decisions about the crucial issues arising in the Bank’s operations.
Shavon Douglas has been appointed as the Chairperson of the board in Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St Francis College.
Further, he has a Post Graduate Certificate in Project Management from the University of Bradford. Douglas also earned a postgraduate degree in Project Management from Universidad para la Coorperacion Internacional.
Douglas also acquired a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from the Global Campus of the University of Maryland.
Douglas worked as an Assistant Branch Manager at M&T Bank in Buffalo, New York. Further, he worked as a Personal Banker at Carver Federal Savings Bank in Greater New York City.
He gave financial counselling and marketing strategies and helped minimise operational discrepancies by improving their review and approval process. The newly appointed Chairman has worked at the Development Bank of Saintt Kitts and Nevis for ten years, serving in various positions.

Douglas is an analytical and detail-oriented professional with comprehensive experience enabling informed decision-making through robust financial planning and analysis. He has an in-depth understanding of financial statement analysis, loan management, and general banking operations.
Sophia Lawrence is appointed the deputy chairperson of the board of directors in the development bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis. She has worked in the civil service and private practice as an Attorney-at-Law for several years. Lawrence graduated from the Norman Manley Law School with a Bachelor of Laws degree at the Cave Hill Campus of the UWI, Barbados.
In October 1994, Sophia was called to the Bar in St Kitts & Nevis. Later, she obtained a postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from the St Augustine Campus of the UWI. Lawrence also attained a Master of Laws (International Business Law) Degree from the University of Manchester in the UK.

Keren Crossman, Almaz Glasford, Kelvina Salters, Camilla Williams and Blyden Brudy were appointed the board directors.
The first director in the board, Keren Crossman is a well-rounded professional and has served as an employee of the Social Security Board of Saint Kitts and Nevis for sixteen years.

During her tenure as a senior staff member, Crossman gave administrative support to the CFO, performed accounting duties, and provided benefits processing between the departments of Finance and Benefits.
Currently, the second director on the board, in the Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis Almaz Glasford, is the Risk & Compliance Manager at National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited. She has more than ten years of work experience in the financial services sector. The majority of my experience is in Credit, Sales and Finance.

Kelvina Salters is a young, value-driven professional becoming increasingly passionate about empowering others via civic engagement and national service.
Salters worked in the crucial government departments of the National Security Secretariat and Citizenship by Investment Unit for half a decade before leaving the country to pursue her studies.

Shortly after her return, she held a position at the First Federal Cooperative Credit Union for a short time. She closely collaborated with the management team on important projects in her position.
The fourth member of the board of directors, Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis Camilla Williams is a former Central Housing Authority (CHA) staff, member. Then, she went from CHA to the National Housing Corporation (NHC).

She is currently employed in this department. Williams has more than 26 years of thorough knowledge of the institution. She spent 12 of these years managing the NHC Mortgage Department.
Williams has held professional and community memberships in the last six (6) years of her professional career. She is poised, competent and enthusiastic to serve in this capacity to advance the institution’s vision and objectives.
The final board of directors member, the Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Blyden Brudy, has contributed vastly to nation-building as an outstanding member of the society, particularly in youth empowerment religiously, academically, and in the sporting arena.

He is the owner of and sole proprietor of Brills Ltd, located in Newton Ground and has been instrumental in providing agricultural products for the local and regional markets for the past 16 years.
