Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis addressed the concerns of the media regarding the 250 Million USD Ritz Carlton Project. The people of the island have been looking forward to the project since the initial announcement which was done in the final months of 2024.
The Ritz Carlton Project is being expected to bring significant FDI and employment opportunities for St Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister shared that the project is expected to bring opportunities out for the people of the island.
During the press conference, one of the reporters had asked the Prime Minister if the project was being stopped after he heard that the business had pulled their funds. This, being a rumour, had been addressed as such by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.
Dr Terrance Drew confirmed that the project has not stopped or been delayed so far and that the project will bring employment for the people of the island in its construction and operation phase. The government has been working with the private investors to ensure a win-win situation for all involved parties.
He shared that they are looking into a relocation solution for the vendors that will be affected by the construction of this $250 Million Project. The Prime Minister also went on to confirm that this was never government owned land and had belonged to private entities who would be using it for their construction.
Through this, Dr Drew addressed the misinformation going around on the media platforms suggesting that the government is relocating long time bars and vendors. The Prime Minister said that the land on which these businesses were operating was privately owned and not Government property.
This is why it was important for them to find alternate spaces to run their business. The Prime Minister said that they are working to make sure that no party is left negatively affected.
