St Kitts and Nevis joined the Republic of China Taiwan in celebrating their 114th National Day on October 9. The double ten day, that is October 10 has been celebrated as a milestone commemorating the 1911 Wuchang Uprising.
It was this uprising which led to the fall of the Qing Dynasty and helped in the founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan). As long time partners. St Kitts and Nevis attended the celebration hosted by the Embassy of Taiwan.
The event was hosted at the Palm Court on October 9. the special reception was aimed at bringing the people of St Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan together for the commemoration of the event.
The celebration of the Taiwanese National Day was attended by several government officials and politicians. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas was also present at the celebration in Palm Court.
Other guests included, members of the Cabinet and representatives of the governments of other nations across the globe. The event was also attended by several important guests, specifically invited for the day.
The national day of Taiwan holds immense importance for the people of the country due to its historical significance. As Taiwan has been a long time partner of St Kitts and Nevis in the diplomatic front, the attendance of St Kitts and Nevis leaders and representatives at the event was proof of the strength of their relationship.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas delivered remarks at the celebration and extended his best wishes to the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the milestone. The administration also shared several images from the event on their social media.
St Kitts and Nevis is grateful and proud of the relationship with Republic of China (Taiwan) that has spanned over four decades. The special reception is hosted every year not only to honor the National Day, but also to commemorate the longstanding partnership between the two nations
