The social security board of St Kitts and Nevis is celebrating its 45th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, also the minister of social security has extended his greetings through his social media account. He extended his greetings to the citizens, nationals, residents and contributors to Social Security.
Through his social media, Dr Terrance Drew informed the people of St Kitts and Nevis that they are celebrating the forty-fifth anniversary under the theme: Transform Reform Thrive: Social Security 45.
Further, Dr Drew noted that As a socially responsible organization, Social Security had demonstrated its commitment to nation-building through its various programs. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew elaborated that these programmes include annual donations to health and national security education programmes, capital investment in local development projects, and support to youth programs and NGOs. All these programmes add value to the core function of social security.
Meanwhile, Dr Terrance Drew extended his gratitude to the founding fathers and prominent personalities of St Kitts and Nevis, including Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw (The social security headquarters of St Kitts and Nevis was named after Bradshaw.) and E St John Payne.
Dr Terrance Drew explained in the Facebook post that John Payne’s visionary work developed an organization founded on international principles of equity, solidarity, and universality. The Prime Minister further noted that helped by their foresight, significant decisions made in 1978 have propelled the fund into financial prowess and security 45 years later.
