St Kitts and Nevis formally appointed their fifth governor-general in the person of Marcella Liburd, who is also the first female governor-general of the country. Governor General Liburd succeeded Sir Tapley Seaton, who vacated the governor general’s office on January 31, 2023. Sir Seaton served in his position for seven years and eight months.

To commemorate the conclusion of his tenure, Sir Tapley Seaton has shared a farewell message with the people of St Kitts and Nevis. In the farewell message, Sir Tapley Seaton expressed his gratitude to all the individuals who assisted him in the conveyance of his duties. He listed all the individuals who helped him in his responsibilities, including the Administrative Staff, Gardeners, and other Support Staff at the Government House. According to Sir Seaton, the staff served diligently, enabling me to perform my duties.

Meanwhile, former Governor General Tapley Seaton talked about the experience of serving the people of St Kitts and Nevis in the capacity of the fourth governor General. He called the experience fulfilling. Meanwhile, he noted that his tenure as the Governor General came after serving fifteen years as the first Attorney General of Independent Saint Christopher (Kitts) and Nevis.

Meanwhile, former Governor General Tapley Seaton expressed his gratitude to all the people who assisted him in this journey. These people included his Family, Medical Professionals, and Security Services. He expressed that all these individuals have been very supportive of the governor general’s efforts to build on the structure of the Government House and its surroundings. This was done to ensure that people could get access to the People’s House. Further, they also helped facilitate all activities of the Office of the Governor-General.

Meanwhile, the former governor general extended best wishes to everyone for the future. He also expressed his trust in the people and the government that they would be able to fulfil the expectations entrusted to them. Tapley Seaton also extended his best wishes to his Successor, Marcella Liburd, for a successful tenure.
