The prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, took to his social media account to share some significant updates about developing the country’s healthcare facilities in the federation. The prime minister is also the minister of health in the government.
He has been working diligently to ensure that the country’s people can access the best in-line healthcare facilities. In line with this, the prime minister shared that the primary healthcare facility of the country will be put in an accreditation path.
Dr Terrance Drew shared on his social media that they are continuing their work to strengthen the legacy issues of the healthcare system. We have decided to put the JNF General Hospital on an accreditation path.
He clarified the meaning of this step of putting the hospital on an accreditation path. He shared that following the organisation’s accreditation, the services offered at JNF will steadily improve.
Dr Terrance Drew, the Minister of Health in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, shared further in his update that they have added more services, equipment and training. The prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis understands the significance of healthcare to the country’s people.
Among the newly added Neurology, Urology services, scholarships for nurses, training for EMTs, more specialists, dialysis machines, anesthesiology machines, ultrasound, a new cabinet for oncology, etc.
He acknowledged that there are still some gaps to be filled. Dr. Drew shared that they have seen a decline in hospital deaths, which is a very positive sign. However, the efforts must continue. Our people deserve this.
Thanks to all the healthcare workers for their hard work and dedication. I encourage them to remain committed and to redouble their efforts for the benefit of their patients. It will not be done overnight but the journey has started.
