St Kitts and Nevis:- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, launched his second book, “Making A Difference”. He has completed his stewardship of 35 years as a parliamentarian for St Christopher Six. The launch event was organised at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium, which accumulated a distinguished crowd.
The minister was elected on 21 March 1989 and has diligently ensured the nation’s growth in all sectors since then. “Making A Difference” is a testament to Dr Denzil Douglas’s significant governance and intellectual dedication. It focuses on his role in the Twin Island state from 2004 to 2015.
This volume covers all the speeches, transformations, and insights of Dr Douglas’s third and fourth terms in office. The first two terms were described in his first book, “Coming Of Age,” published in 2009.
Dr Douglas arranged a 35th-anniversary calendar with events like a branch meeting, a series of community walkthroughs, a branch executive lunch meeting, a Thanksgiving service, a book launch, a health fair, and a health walk.
The cabinet ministers organized a surprise lunch and toast for Dr Denzil Douglas to celebrate his significant performance towards the nation for 35 years in a row. The occasion was held at the Parliamentary Lounge at Government Headquarters, which attracted a distinguished crowd, including past and present Government Ministers, Ambassadors, and Cabinet Secretaries.
Dr Douglas stated, “But for the goodness of God, 35 years of committed and dedicated service to our people. I am grateful”.
In addition, Dr Kenny Anthony, former Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, said, “The launch of Making A Difference is not only a milestone in Dr Douglas’s career but also a beacon of inspiration for current and future generations. It labels the power of visionary leadership and the indelible influence of serving with integrity, passion and commitment to the betterment of the society”.
Copies of the book were distributed among the guests and given to all educational institutions in St Kitts and Nevis.
