Dr. Drew Highlights Youth Development Through Community Football League

Dr Terrance Drew shared images from the opening weekend of the community football league which is being hosted under his patronage. He highlighted that the annual football league is hosted with the aim of making the youngsters engage in productive activities during the summer months. 

Dr Drew said that he was delighted to see the six teams coming together and taking to the field. The Prime Minister has shared that he has supported the football league for several years highlighting that the event is more than just a sports league. The officials have shared that it is their responsibility to make sure that the people of the island engage in fruitful activities during their downtimes.

Dr drew said, the league provides youngsters of the country, especially the young men an opportunity to direct their energies into positive activities. Sports events such as the community football league also helps in improving community bonds, fosters lasting friendships, and reinforces the values of teamwork, discipline, and respect. 

According to Dr Terrance Drew, the event is also hosted as a part of the government’s broader effort to encourage our youth to reject crime and violence. The administration has been encouraging youngsters to embrace opportunities that uplift them and their communities.

The Prime Minister hosts the league every year and highlights the importance of community engagements like these in the overall growth of the youth of the country. 

Dr Drew, as the Minister of National Security and Minister of Health, has taken a proactive approach to managing crime and violence with the help of community intervention. 

The authorities have shared that Dr Drew has, for long, looked at crime and violence as a public health concern. To this end, his response has been towards engaging the people of the island in positive and productive activities across the island. 

The Prime Minister has thanked all the organizers and the players who participated in making the opening weekend a success. PM Drew also invited people of St. Peter’s, and indeed all of St. Kitts and Nevis, to come out and support these young athletes throughout the season
