The first Female Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) political Party, Natasha “Shanny” Gray-Brookes has resigned from her position. The announcement was made by the National Executive of the People’s Action Movement on Monday, July 27, 2026.
As per the political party, the resignation will come into effect on July 31, 2026.
Grey-Brookes has reaffirmed her commitment to serving the political party outside of her position as the leader of the organisation.
The Political party has asserted that the decision has been made after careful consultations and considerations. The decision impacts the political party in light of the polls which are scheduled for 2027.
The political party has shared that the decision has been made in line with the party’s electoral strategy. To this end, Grey-Brookes has also claimed that she has taken this decision as a strategic realignment designed to strengthen the Party’s campaign.
The move is designed to increase the party’s chances of forming the next Government.
She believes that stepping down from the position will also place her in a better position to manage what is expected to be an intensely competitive contest.
In her resignation communication, Natasha “Shanny” Grey-Brookes has shared, “At this critical time in our nation’s history, every decision must be guided by what gives our Party the strongest opportunity to earn the confidence of the people and to bring about the change our country so desperately needs.
She further said that “By stepping aside as Political Leader, I will be able to devote my full energy and attention to ensure victory in each constituency while continuing to work tirelessly alongside the Party’s leadership to secure victory for the people of our great nation.”
The decision has been attracting speculation and discussion from across the island. The decision allegedly follows follows days of speculation on social media. Claims have been made that Grey-Brookes’s decision to step away from party leadership may have been forced upon her.
The party or Natasha Grey Brookes have not addressed these speculations.
