The People’s Action Movement will elect its next political leader on September 1, 2026. The nominations for the position of the next leader started on August 12 and the internal elections of the political party are scheduled for September 1, 2026.
The election has been scheduled after the formal resignation of Natasha Grey-Brookes from the position of the Party Leader last month. The September 1 internal polls will elect the 6th party leader for the People’s Action Movement.
The political party has shared that the election will take place during a Special Caucus of the political party. They also confirmed that the nominations for the leadership position will remain open until Tuesday, August 25.
Notably, Grey-Brookes resigned as Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) effective July 31. She confirmed in written communication that the decision to resign from the position was made as a strategic realignment.
Grey-Brookes said that stepping down from the position would allow her to devote greater attention to securing victory in her St. Christopher One constituency. She also asserted that she would be more capable for supporting the party’s wider electoral campaign as a worker within the party.
According to PAM, the leadership position is open to any party member who remains in good standing who meets the established criteria. The political party is urging members of the political party who consider themselves suitable to enter their nomination for the position of the party leader.
The officials have further added that the Secretariat will also remain available to provide information on the nomination process, requirements and deadlines. The political party has shared that they are looking forward to selecting a candidate that will serve the party as well a people well.
The political party has not confirmed any candidates at this stage, and the nomination period will determine how broad the contest will become. The election process will start on September 1 and the final results will be announced soon afterwards.
