The ministry of youth affairs, Ageing and disabilities arranged a training programme for the elderly care providers at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) in St Kitts and Nevis. Eighteen participants of the course recently completed their training and recieved certificates of completion in the course of elderly care. The eighteen people will get the chance to tend to the elderly in the various daycare facilities in the country and help with taking care of the older people in the country.

The authorities provided the certificates to the CFBC Elderly care course participants after completing their theoretical and skills practice in the first instance, followed by clinical placement for the remaining six weeks. The event happened at the Solid Waste Management Corporation on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Various members of the elderly care facility attended the event. The

Lecturer Marshalette Smith-Anthony at the Division of Health Sciences noted that the course would help the trainees develop their skills and knowledge in elderly care and assist them in giving their clients the best services. The initiative of Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College will serve as an educational opportunity for them, which will help inspire confidence in them so that they can continue to provide care for their client.

Meanwhile, the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) started the course in 2019. The course is conducted once every year. However, the Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, has recently asked the CFBC to run the course twice yearly. This is because the federation is experiencing a surge in the elderly living longer, requiring care from the people.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Ageing and Disabilities, Janelle Lewis-Tafari, also congratulated the eighteen graduates of the course. She encouraged them to be true to their career choice and commit to providing care to the people. Permanent Secretary Lewis-Tafari thanked the Skills Training Empowerment Programme (STEP) for partnering with the elderly care provider programme.
