Bright Black Fashion, a new international digital platform developed by two Latino women living in Dubai for the past eight years, Andrea Laguna from Colombia and Alicia Becerra from Argentina, provides a space where talents in the fashion industry can show their skills on a series of online challenges.

If they get selected as finalists on the platform, they will participate in the Grand Finale of the first season in Dubai in June 2022. The winners would be decided according to the four categories, which are: Fashion designers, makeup artists, models and fashion photographers.

Both women came together to start working to build a bridge between complementary markets and expand a search for opportunities and support emerging talent worldwide.

Andrea Laguna is a Colombian singer who arrived in Dubai eight years ago. “We want to give opportunities to talented people who haven’t got the chance to show everything they can do in their industry”, Andrea said.

On the other hand, Alicia Becerra from San Luis, Argentina, is a businesswoman who has been working for a fashion designer in Dubai for the past four years. “Bright Black Fashion is an amazing start to the participant’s careers. There is so much talent and diversity worldwide, and many people work hard but don’t get to the right place at the right time; all we want is to offer them that special opportunity,” Alicia said.

Andrea took a note to explain the procedure to participate in the platform. She outlined, “It is effortless, anyone can register on our website www.brightblackfashion.com or through the link in our Instagram @brightblackfashion, they select the category they want to participate in, and that’s it! They will receive all the requirements via email for the category they selected and start the challenges for the selection team to begin the process”.

While explaining the “Bright Black Latin America Tour,” one of the developers elaborated that the tour is looking to support and bring attention to the Bright Black Fashion platform and will happen in Latin American countries (Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and others) showcasing local and international designers and will begin for the first season in San Luis, Argentina, this next 07th of May 2022 in the convention centre La Punta. San Luis is a beautiful and desired touristic destination in Argentina, presenting a perfect scenario for the show.

One of the biggest names in the fashion industry, Michael Cinco, a Filipino couture designer based in Dubai for more than twenty years and that has dressed celebrities like Beyonce, Jennifer López, Sofía Vergara, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, will be the headline designer of the show in San Luis alongside designers from the middle east like Salma Khan and brands like The Victor Closet as well as emerging designers from Latin America.

Andrea further explained the new trends accepted by the new generation in the fashion industry. She stated, “The world has changed so much in the last decade with the rise of social media as part of our daily lives and more so in the previous couple of years, where people look for inspiration and want to see more relatable and approachable fashion, and diversity is a big thing, which gives opportunity to a wider range of talents.

It is very exciting to see the evolution, inclusivity and consciousness that are taking place in the fashion industry”.

She further assured that new and fantastic news would expectedly come soon. “We will present our second platform that will be for talents in the music and entertainment industry! We will announce it after the grand finale of Bright Black Fashion in Dubai in June 2022,” Andrea said.
