St Kitts and Nevis: To assist in the management of the COVID-19 epidemic in St. Kitts and Nevis, a generous family in London, donated four (4) Samsung tablets to the national COVID-19 Task Force to be used by the public health team.
Through the office of the High Commissioner in London, the Wallace family presented electronic devices to High Commissioner Dr Kevin Issac. Who later sent those to the Ministry of Health in St. Kitts and Nevis.
The tablets were given to the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Hazel Laws, by Medical Chief of Staff at the Joseph N. France General Hospital, Dr Cameron Wilkinson, amid the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) COVID-19 Weekly conference at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Discussion Room on January 27, 2021.
“The Wallace family donated these tablets, parents Robert and Mildred Wallace, and son Lionel Wallace. This donation is called for the express purpose of distribution to the COVID-19 Task Force of St. Kitts and Nevis,” Dr Wilkinson said. “They are to be used by public health officials with the ability to connect to COVID-19 testing and online laboratory information systems in the performance of their duties in tabulating information in the field.”
He added, “We would also like to thank Dr Jeffers and NextGen Laboratories, who helped coordinate this venture and bore the cost of shipment of these tablets from the United Kingdom.”
Dr Wilkinson said, “All the perspectives of society that we have emphasized continue to work and we are grateful to the diaspora and the citizens at the local level who have stepped forward for service.”
In receiving the tablets, Dr Hazel Laws said, “It is a pleasure to accept these four tablets from a donor in the United Kingdom.” On behalf of St. Kitts and Nevis COVID-19 National Task Force and the Health Emergency Operations Committee, I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to these four Samsung tablets.”
Two tablets are to be donated to the Ministry of Health in Nevis.
