The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, was arranging his first New Year Gala on Saturday, January 7, 2023. The Prime Minister shared the first update about the Gala in Early December. The demand for the Prime Minister’s inaugural Gala was evident in the fact that the organizing committee of the Gala sold out the tickets for the affair in December.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew’s new year gala will have several prominent personalities as guests. The guests included Elizabeth Thompson, Ambassador of Barbados. She is the minister responsible for Climate Change, Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and the Law of the Sea. She will act as the keynote speaker for the event. Additionally, Ambassador Thompson serves as Deputy President of the Senate of Barbados.
Dr Terrance Drew, The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, will host the event at the St Kitts Marriot Resorts. Prime Minister’s guest, Ambassador Thompson, is a very knowledgeable and highly successful woman who has worked as the Ambassador of Barbados to the United Nations. She has also served as the Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations.
She handled specific responsibilities as one of the two Executive Coordinators of the Rio+20 Conference, which was held on Sustainable Development. At the same time, she also worked in several other roles in the United Nations Systems.
Her policy on climate change and sustainable development was considered ground-breaking. Additionally, she received the prestigious UN Award of Champion of the Earth in 2008 for leading the effort regarding the first National Green Economy Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
She served as the regional consultant for the OAS. She has also led the consultancy teams responsible for developing sustainable energy policies for the Commonwealth of Dominica & Grenada. As the consultant for ECLAC, she was instrumental in developing the National Sustainable Yachting Policy for St Kitts and Nevis. Further, she led teams to review the regional housing policy. She has also contributed to several publications.
