The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew delivered the opening remarks at St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Monthly press conference. During the opening comments, the Minister of Health, attracted the media’s attention towards the shortcomings of the most prominent healthcare institute of St Kitts and Nevis, the JNF General Hospital.

During the Press Conference, Dr Drew repeatedly stated his and his administration’s pledge to do well for the people of St Kitts and Nevis. He references the workers’ struggles and efforts to ensure that the health and healthcare of St Kitts and Nevis remain satisfactory.

Dr Terrance Drew also pledged to make JNF General Hospital the best Secondary and Tertiary care hospital in the region. The minister of health took the opportunity at the press conference to inform the people that before the SKNLP administration, there needed to be essential staff for managing health affairs.

According to Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party was committed to replenishing the team at the various medical centres in St Kitts and Nevis. Additionally, the minister of health noted that several medical practitioners needed the certifications and training to practice medicine safely.

In line with this, the government ensured that almost 250 medical practitioners received professional training in ALS, PALS and BLS. They also received certificates for these pieces of training. Further, the minister of health noted in his opening remarks that they provided the appropriate training they needed to practice.

Dr Terrance Drew informed the media that the JNF General hospital is undergoing some financial issues, which the Terrance Drew-led health ministry has resolved. Following this, Dr Drew noted that the administration has invested in procuring several equipments for the labs of the hospitals in St Kitts.

The SKNLP government under Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew noted that they are planning to add new and experienced staff to the payroll at the various health institutions. This, in turn, will help the development of healthcare in the federation.
