The Women Empowering Girls St Kitts and Nevis wing recently shared glimpses of opening the seventh edition of the Women Empowering Girls Mentorship Programme. The event was held on Thursday, March 16, 2023. During the event, 36 inspiring women from various backgrounds of St Kitts engaged 36 young female fifth-form students of the Basseterre High School. The interaction and engagement were a part of the Women Empowering Girls Mentorship Programme.
The official social media account dedicated to Women Empowering Girls informed the people of St Kitts and Nevis about the event’s happenings. They shared that this mentorship session was done in a speed dating style format as per the norm. During the session, the students were allowed to interact with the women, ask questions or share information about any aspect of their life they may seek advice for.
The seventh session of the Women Empowering Girls mentorship Programme in the Basettere High School was attended by the parliamentary representative of Constituency Number 2, Marsha Henderson. She handles the responsibility for the Ministries of Tourism, Civil Aviation et al. The event was attended by the Pioneering Women 2023 Inductee, Adeola Moore. Notably, she is first female CEO of the St Christopher Air and Seaport Authority.
Highlights of the session also included the women leaving special notes of affirmations and advice for the girls on a vision board that will be gifted to the school, which included notes such as “Always Choose You”. Many students expressed excitement about being a part of the event and shared with the authorities how great the experience was for them. Further, the thirty-six girls confessed that they wished they had more time to interact with the women.
The organizing authorities extended special thanks to the St Kitts Credit Union for their kind financial contribution and to their CEO Harris, who gave remarks on Financial Intelligence being the gateway to Confidence and Independence.
