The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, extended greetings of International Women’s Day to the people of the country. The Prime Minister noted that the federation is celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, 2023, under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.
In line with this, Prime Minister Drew also shared some glimpses of the national assembly sitting on March 7, 2023. The members of the National Assembly, including Dr Terrance Drew, took the opportunity to celebrate the women of the country during the latest session of National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis.
While sharing an image of all the members posing together, Dr Drew wrote that Your Government has intentionally created more opportunities for women to advance in their careers within the public sector. He added that the government partners urge all to consider patterning this step.
Dr Terrance Drew acknowledged they had come a long way in the journey to gender parity. However, he added that they still have a way to go. Accordingly, he shared his and his administration’s shared belief that women play a critical role in the overall development of our St Kitts and Nevis.
He asserted that women hold significant soft skills pertinent to economic advancement. He further believes they should give adequate attention to gender parity in all fields. PM Terrance Drew noted that According to UN Women, women comprise only 22% of artificial intelligence workers globally. Dr Drew reasoned that women could not fully utilize technology due to a persisting gender gap in gaining access to the field. This is a problem they must address. Accordingly, he assured the people that the government of St Kitts and Nevis intends to ensure equal opportunity for all.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew used the occasion of International Women’s Day to deliver a special address to the people of St Kitts and Nevis. He extended his greetings to all the women of the federation and asserted that women play a critical role in the overall development of our country. He also assured the people that the government of St Kitts and Nevis, led by him, has made significant strides in ensuring that women are given equal opportunities to advance within the public sector.
