The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, recently took to his social media account to share an update about two kids who are receiving life-saving treatment in the Cayman Islands. The children travelled outside the country on government aid to get the required treatment. Prime Minister Drew stated that no children should die because their parents can not afford medical treatment for the children.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance informed the people that the two children with congenital heart disease would benefit from the fund provided for children with potentially deadly medical conditions who must travel overseas. The Prime Minister shared that as a caring government, they will continue to ensure that our children get the best chance to live despite their parents’ financial situation.
The children receiving critical heart treatment overseas are one- and two-year-olds from St Kitts. The Pediatric Assistance League of St Kitts and Nevis has also shared the update in this regard. They have urged the people to keep the children’s families in their prayers.
Dr Terrance Drew committed that the children of the federation who require such medical care will no longer have to depend on a sponsor sheet to determine their fate. The government of St Kitts and Nevis, under the leadership of Dr Terrance Drew, has set up a fund to assist the parents of children suffering from potentially fatal health issues.
Dr Drew announced the initiative for the people of St Kitts and Nevis early in his tenure. The funding initiative has benefitted three children who have received the life-saving treatment completely funded by the government of St Kitts and Nevis. The other initiative recipient, Ju’Niyah, also receives chemotherapy treatment in Barbados.
