The police of St Kitts and Nevis is investigating a gruesome incident of homicide in St Kitts. The incident occurred in McKnight Lower Thibou Avenue in the early morning hours of Saturday, may 27, 2023. As per the reports from the media, the neighbourhood heard the sounds of several gunshots at just after 3:00 AM in the morning. The gunshots resulted in a resident of the Lower Thibou Avenue, getting severely injured.

The victim is recognized as Rashaaun Hopkins. He was shot several times. After the incident, the victim’s family took him to the Joseph Nathaniel France General Hospital in Basseterre. He reached the hospital in critical condition in a private vehicle.

The reports suggest that he was receiving treatment at the hospital. However, the intensity of the injuries caused him to succumb to his gunshot wounds. The motivation behind the incident remains unknown. St Kitts and Nevis Police officials are currently investigating the crime. The incident has added to a considerable list of homicide and related crimes that are taking place in St Kitts and Nevis.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and the representatives of the Royal Saint Christopher and Nevis Police Force are expected to question the members of the community in this regard. The police officials and the government of St Kitts and Nevis are making all the efforts possible to reduce crime in the country.

Since the start of 2023, the country has been working to reduce crime on the twin islands. In the last few months, the police force has been extremely active in this regard.
