  • Further, the Department clarifies that youth-led organizations must be predominantly governed by and participated by youth.
  • The membership of the organization is required to include at least 60% of persons ages 12-29.

All the groups that meet the prerequisites are allowed to register with the Department of Youth Empowerment as a youth-led organization.

Further, the Department of Youth Empowerment also detailed certain guidelines for youth-serving organizations. According to the Department of Youth empowerment:

  • A youth-serving organization is an organization that serves the youth and youth interests.
  • The Department clarifies that such organizations are not predominantly governed by youth.
  • These organizations may range in nature. The nature variance may include civic, faith-based, governmental, sports and charity etc.
  • These variances are not limited to the aforementioned.

As per the St Kitts Department of Youth Empowerment, such organizations are allowed to register with the Department of Youth Empowerment as a Partner/Youth-Serving Organization.
