Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew and the leadership of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) joined the rest of the world in observing International Youth Day on Friday, August 12, 2022. Especially St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) admires and celebrates the strides made by the younger generation across St Kitts and Nevis and their potential to make the world a better place.
PM Drew stated that St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) prides itself on the assistance the political party has provided to the country’s youth for their overall development over the years. The SKNLP has and will continue to lead the cause of addressing issues affecting the youth of St Kitts and Nevis, whether education or employment.
The prime minister assured that “Our new administration will put the nation’s youth at the centre of planning by revitalizing and aggressively pursuing a National Youth Policy that leverages the vigour, energy, creativity and talents of our youth and gives them a voice in the most serious and important national discussions.”
He added that listening to young people about the issues that matter to them is also an important commitment of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP). The Prime Minister further stated that the country needs the youth to find innovative solutions to the challenges that the 21st Century presents itself with.
“Happy International Youth Day to all the young people of St Kitts and Nevis and the world, who are pushing against all odds, who continue to challenge the status quo, who refuse to put limitations and restrictions on their success, and whose lives are dedicated to serving others,” he added.
Geoffrey Hanley, the parliamentary representative for Constituency #1, also extended his cordial wishes on International Youth Day.
In his message he stated “Today we celebrate International Youth Day and the opportunity we have as a people to paint the world with hope for young people to excel. This hope closely aligns with the theme for this year’s International Youth Day: Intergenerational Solidarity; Creating a world for all ages.”
