St Kitts and Nevis hosted the first-ever Midnight escape street festival under Sugar Mas 51 on Monday, December 26, 2022. The event had a plethora of events and contests. The Minister of Creative Economy, Samal Duggins, who is also responsible for the national Carnival, took to his social media to share an update of the midnight escape on his social media. The events in the street festival include:
Battle Of the Heads – Painting competition
Rum Roulette
Bun Eating Competition
Face Painting
Mechanical Bull
Bouncing Castles
and much more
Minister Samal Duggins wrote on his social media that it is important to add new and trendy concepts to our Sugar Mas celebrations, which would boost economic activity, particularly for our small-scale businesses.
Therefore, he expressed that it was truly heartwarming to hear how happy the hundreds of vendors and cultural practitioners were with the outcome of the Midnight Escape Street Festival. Samal Duggins said on his social media post that some entities informed him that many of our vendors came close to selling out their goods and products.
Samal Duggins confessed that this novel concept is the brainchild of the Creative Economy. The Ministry is on a quest to provide opportunities to showcase and sell our talent & creativity to the world.
At the same time, The Minister of Creative Economy extended his congratulations to our hard-working Permanent Secretary, Director and staff at the Ministry, as well as the Carnival Committee for their unwavering commitment to making Sugar Mas 51 one for the books.
In the Social Media Post, Minister Samal Duggins also recognized members of the Federal Cabinet who continue to show tremendous in-person support for every single initiative.
