The Minister of Agriculture, Creative Economy and Sports, Samal Duggins, met and interacted with senior officials from the Division of Latin America and Caribbean Regional Development of the World Intellectual Property Organization. The WIPO is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Minister of Agriculture, and creative economy in the government of St Kitts and Nevis Samal Duggins shared several glimpses of the event on his social media account. The members of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) recently organized a similar meeting with the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.
During the meeting, Minister Samal Duggins addressed critical issues in the field of Intellectual Property Rights. The Minister in turn accorded the delegation a warm welcome to the federation. He welcomed Beatriz Amorim, Carol Simpson, and the Registrar of Intellectual Property, Jihan Williams to the meeting.
The Minister of Creative Economy, who is a vocal advocate of protecting the intellectual property rights of the musicians and other technically proficient populations of the country discussed possible areas of partnership between WIPO and St Kitts and Nevis.
Through this meeting, the members of the WIPO and the Minister of Sports, Creative Economy, Agriculture et al., discussed ways to integrate intellectual property and innovation in the areas of sports, small business development and the creative economy.
The meeting between the Minister and the team of the Division of Latin America and Caribbean Regional Development of the World Intellectual Property Organization was held on April 4, 2023. The meeting took place days after a similarly high-level delegation interaction with PM Drew.
The interaction will lead to the team reaching many critical decisions regarding the inclusion of the concept and implementation of Intellectual Property into the various ministries of Samal Duggins, including creative economy (music, acting, bands), sports, small business development.
