Minister of Creative Economy Samal Duggins attended the opening ceremony of Phase 1A of the Documentation and Equipment Skills Training workshop. The Minister also took the opportunity to deliver brief remarks at the training workshop. The event was hosted by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the St Kitts Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Secretariat.
The workshop is scheduled to run from February 27 to March 3, 2023. The event served as an opportunity for the participants to receive advanced training in terms of handling the camera and video equipment. The seminar trainers and authorities will place special focus on training the students with camera techniques, rules of composition, scripting, storytelling, lighting, music, and editing.

The Warner Park Media Center served as the venue to host the multi-day seminar.

Minister Samal Duggins confessed that the workshop would be the first step towards implementing a National Intangible Cultural Heritage Policy to safeguard our cultural heritage. The Department of Culture is working under the Ministry of the creative economy. They are working towards the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Policy that is mandated towards working to protect and promote the culture of the twin island federation.
