The Ministry of Social Development and Gender Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis started hosting a week of activities on Universal Children’s Day. The day is celebrated every year on November 20.

For this year, The theme of the children’s day celebration was “Leading with Prevention: Creating Awareness, Promoting Alliances and Strengthening Communities.”

St Kitts and Nevis has laid out a calendar featuring a week of activities.

On the first day of the week of activities, also celebrated as the 

UNIVERSAL CHILDREN’S DAY, November 20, will see the following events:

  • Minister’s address to the Nation
  • Church Service – Rivers of Living Waters Christian Ministries | 9:00 AM
  • Mind, Body & Soul Interview – Freedom FM | 6:00 PM

The interview theme is “The Rise of Self-Harming Behaviors Among Teenage Girls: Mapping a Social Net Response.”

MONDAY, November 21, 2022, will see the following events:

  • Celebration of Universal Children’s Day throughout schools
  • “Happy Day” Coloring Challenge for Kindergarteners – #pictureabrighterfuture 
  • Island Tea Interview-WINN FM | 9:00 AM

The interview theme will be: “What is Child Abuse Prevention, and how can we all help.”

  • Issues Interview – Freedom FM | 1:30 PM “Why are community alliances important in preventing and curbing child abuse.”

On November 22, 2022, Tuesday, the following events will be held:

  • Good morning, SKN Interview-Studio 327-8:15 AM

The theme for the interview will be “A child’s right to participate: Giving children a voice on issues that matter.” 

  • Frank & Candid Interview with SKNYPA – ZIZ Radio | 11:00 AM

Theme: “Toughening legal penalties to deter Child Abuse: A Legislative Response.”

On Wednesday, November 23, 2022, the following events will be held:

  • Reading Corner: Planting Positive Seeds. Staff volunteers to host pre-schools reading activity
  • Youth Beat Interview – Freedom FM | 8:45 PM

“Tips on how to inspire self-confidence in children”

November 24, 2022, St Kitts and Nevis will host 

  • Child Abuse Prevention Workshop under the theme: “Collaborating with parents for Creative Solutions.”
  • Topics of discussion: Understanding Child Abuse
  • Communicating Effectively with Children A Parent’s Responsibility to Protect

On November 25, St Kitts and Nevis will Celebrate Go Blue Day. On this occasion, The nationals will pledge against child abuse by going BLUE for the day. Get creative with your ideas #goblueskn
