Nevis: Minister at Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and Former Director at Nevis Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS), Jahnel Nisbett toured the temporarily erected field hospital at the Alexandra Hospital grounds on August 27, 2024.
It is to be noted that this critical medical unit was erected as a practical demonstration of the health emergency response plan. These field hospitals are equipped with beds, privacy screens, toilets, shower, electricity, and a host of other features which are designed to provide immediate medical treatment.
These medical units also serve as the temporary facilities if the main hospital become compromised during unfortunate events or during a disaster.

Notably, Director Jahnel Nisbett was joined by the Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley and other Cabinet Colleagues on the tour.
Premier Mark Brantley shared glimpses of their visit on his official social media and noted that they toured the field hospital which was erected by their team as a trial run and which they have in the event of a health emergency.
This collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and the Nevis Disaster Management saw the members of the Public Health Maintenance team, Alexandra Maintenance team, and supervisory assistance from Public Works Department (PWD).

The NIA Minister Nisbett also said that in the event of disaster, all hands are required on deck to safeguard lives and livelihood. She also publicly recognised the efforts of her team at the Ministry of Health and all the staff across various departments that played a vital role in ensuring readiness in case of an urgency.
She extended deep gratitude to the U.S. Government through its Southern Command who donated two such field hospitals to the Government of St Kitts and Nevis.
Premier Brantley also commended the leadership of Minister Jahnel Nisbett and her entire team for ensuring that Nevis continues to develop its health sector and its crucial human and physical infrastructure.
