PM Terrance Drew meets Columbia University Students in NY

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew traveled to New York to attend the 78th edition of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). On the sidelines for this event, the Prime Minister also engaged in several other important meetings. 

One of these meetings was with a group of students from Columbia University. the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis shared some glimpses from the event that he was a part of. Dr Drew shared his experience of being a part of the dialogue with the young minds of Columbia University. 

He has shared some updates regarding the various engagements that he took in during his trip to New York. He left immediately after the conclusion of Independence 40 festivities in St Kitte and Nevis. 

Through this initiative, he got the chance to interact with several young minds of the world. He shared in his social media account that the discussions with Columbia University students was insightful. He was extremely happy to be a part of this initiative and spoke of several pertinent points. 

During his dialogue with the nurturing minds of Columbia University, he emphasized the critical role of small island nations like St Kitts and Nevis in advancing sustainable development. Further, Dr Terrance Drew also spoke to the students regarding the vulnerability of island states to the adverse effects of climate change. 

These include issues such as rising sea levels and extreme weather events. Dr Terrance Drew and the students discussed the government’s efforts to build resilience and promote sustainable practices as we continue to fulfill our Sustainable Island State agenda.

He noted that the event concluded with a sense of optimism and appreciation. At the end of the interaction, PM Terrance Drew was asked to sign their University’s flag. In his social media post, PM Drew said, he wrote the words “Become the change we need!!” on the flag.
