The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew recently took to his social media account to congratulate the newly appointed Commissioner of police for the Royal Saint Christopher and Nevis Police Force. Commissioner of Police James Sutton was sworn into his position in the police force during a ceremony on Thursday, February 23, 2023. The ceremony took place at the warner park cricket stadium.

Dr Terrance Drew applauded the Commissioner of police for his services in his Facebook post on Saturday, February 25, 2023. He explained that James Whitinton Sutton had dedicated his life to serving his country and people.

The Prime Minister further explained that Sutton remains loyal to his duty to serve and protect the public as a police officer. Additionally, he has done so with dignity and integrity throughout his career. Accordingly, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew congratulated Sutton on his promotion to the position of leadership of the Police Force.

Here, the Prime Minister and minister of National security, Dr Terrance Drew observed in his social media post that Moral and personal integrity are the pillars of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force. Here he took the opportunity to acknowledge that policing has become increasingly challenging in the modern world. Therefore, the Government of St Kitts and Nevis is prioritizing Police reform.

Dr Terrance Drew shared that the Government aims to making policing more beneficial to both the public at large and the men and women of the Force.

The Government’s decided to increase the Ministry of National Security budget for this budgetary cycle. This decision was informed by the aim to enhance the implementation of the strategic plans and policies which are designed to manage the reduction of criminal activities in St Kitts and Nevis.

Dr Terrance Drew delivered remarks on the intallation ceremony of Commissioner of Police James Sutton. In his address, he informed the people that the governmemt’s efforts to expand community policing have proven fruitful. Accordingly, the Prime Minister applauded the Police Force once again for their service.

Dr Drew also noted that he is looking forward to collaborating with James Sutton in his new role as Commissioner of Police. Dr Terrance Drew also expressed that he is confident that James Sutton will do what is necessary to ensure that our officers receive the required training to target and reduce recidivism, forge stronger community relationships, reduce criminal activity, and help establish safe havens for our youth.
