The prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrance Drew took to his social media account to share the significance of Mental Health. He posted on his social media account on the occasion of World Mental Health Day and extended his Greetings. This year, the theme for the international celebration of World Mental Health Day is: Mental Health is a Universal Human Right.
Dr Drew handles the responsibility for the ministry of health. As a part of his duties, he has been promoting open and honest discussions on mental health in the country. Mental health is a stigma and a taboo in many parts of the world even till date. Many communities find it extremely hard to manage their mental health as they don’t have the right resources or guidance to help them.
The prime minister believes that in order to lead a healthy and fulfilled life, it is important to maintain a balance. Physical and mental health go hand with each other and one can have a significant impact on the other. Accordingly, Dr Terrance Drew stated that on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, He wants to break the stigma surrounding mental health.
At the same time, the prime minister seeks toto reaffirm his commitment to prioritizing the well-being of every individual.
Dr Terrance Drew asserted that Mental health is just as important as physical health. He urged the people of the island to encourage open conversations, provide support, and create environments where everyone can thrive mentally and emotionally. To show their support to open mental health discussions, Prime Minister Drew asked the people of the country to dress up in green.
Green is the colour most commonly associated with mental health.
On World Mental Health Day, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew believes that Together, the people can build a world where mental health is treated with the same care and compassion as any other aspect of our health.
