Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew visited the Southern University and A&M College – Baton Rouge, LA to negotiate more educational opportunities for the people in terms of full and partial scholarships.
The Prime Minister shared about the visit through his official social media account and also shared the highlights of his meetings that aimed at enhancing educational collaborations between the university and the Federation.
Sharing the glimpses, PM Drew noted that the goal of his visit is to provide affordable educational opportunities so that the citizens of his nation are well prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century and create pathways to success.
Significantly, PM Terrance Drew was welcomed by the university leadership, including Chairman Myron Lawson, President Dennis Shields, and Chancellor Orlando McMeans.

The Prime Minister’s visit started with a formal meeting, followed by the tour of various departments and facilities of the Southern University Campus. In addition to this, PM Drew also toured the Centre for International Education, Gaming Lab and the Digital Media Arts Studio.
PM Dr Terrance Drew also delivered remarks and during the note, he emphasised the importance of international collaboration in education.
He stated that his visit to Southern University has fortified the value of partnerships in fostering educational growth and development for the students and the faculty. “We look forward to exploring the opportunities that will benefit both St Kitts and Nevis and Southern University.”

The visit concluded with an additional tour of the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, where discussions on advancing agricultural education and technology were talked about.
The Prime Minister also extended thanks to Hadiya Claxton, Special Envoy for Investment, Development, and International Business Relations, the leadership of the Southern University and the Government of St Kitts and Nevis for this excellent collaboration.
Additionally, the PM also met with the first batch of students of St Kitts and Nevis who are enrolled at the Southern University and encouraged them to work hard and strive for excellence.
