St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew met Didier Trebucq, the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, on Tuesday (January 30). 

During the meeting, both had the opportunity to reflect and discuss collaborations between the two nations and undertake developments within their region. 

Taking to his official Facebook handle earlier on Wednesday, PM Drew said, “Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting with Didier Trebucq, the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.”

He also shared some glimpses and noted various aspects of their significant meeting, adding, “Our discussion was not only productive but also illuminating as we delved into various aspects of collaboration between the UN and Saint Kitts and Nevis.”

Some of the critical Key topics in their discussions were:

  • Formulation of a new UN Country Implementation Plan for the forthcoming two years
  •  To Reflect upon their shared commitment to advancing development initiatives in the region.

At Last, PM Drew expressed his hope for the productive outcomes of their meeting. “I eagerly anticipate the prospect of ongoing collaboration and the positive impact it will undoubtedly have on our nation’s progress,” he outlined. 

Notably, Several delegations from the Government of St Kitts and Nevis also attended the meeting. These include:

  • Naeemah Hazel, the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office
  • Bjorn Hazel is the senior foreign service officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also, the UN Resident Coordinator Trebucq was accompanied by Cosbert Woods, the UN Country Coordinator for St Kitts and Nevis, and Uzumma Erume, an Economist and Development Coordination Unit Officer at the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office.

The meeting was based upon their effective collaborations and commitment towards strengthening their bilateral relationships. 

Notably, A UN Country Implementation Plan (UN CIP) is a roadmap guiding the United Nations’ cooperation with a specific country to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

It’s essentially a blueprint for how the UN will work with a particular nation to advance its development agenda and improve the lives of its citizens.
