Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, took to social media and expressed his pleasure of hosting Marci Ien, Canadian Minister of Women and Gender Affairs and Youth and HE Lillian Chatterjee at the La Cuchina Restaurant, St. Kitts Marriott Resort, for breakfast on 5 January 2023.

Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly Mauriel Knight, joined by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Senator Isalean Phillip and members of the St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA), led Canadian Minister of Women and Gender Affairs and Youth, the Marci Ien on a Tour of the National Assembly Chambers at Government Headquarters.

Marci Ien was also joined by Lilian Chatterjee, Ambassador of Canada to St Kitts and Nevis. The tour was followed by an official dialogue with the Executive and Members of SKNYPA in the Parliamentary Lounge, where a number of social issues were discussed.

Dr Terrance highlighted that It was a delightful start to a day filled with insightful discussions and collaborations. Furthermore, Dr Terrance Drew announced on his social media that Ien was the esteemed guest speaker for the Gala that was going to be held on the 5th of January 2023, later that evening.

Ien, the esteemed guest speaker for the PM’s Gala, brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.

Additionally, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives, Small Business and Entrepreneurship Samal Duggins facilitated the handing over of more than 7000 tissue-cultured plants in a ceremony at the Needsmust Farm.

These plants included banana and pineapple. St Vincent and the Grenadines donated these plants.

This forms part of the ministry’s total plan, designed to secure food self-sufficiency and sustainability in St. Kitts and Nevis by reducing the food import bill.

Minister of Agriculture Samal Duggins, along with Permanent Secretary Mr Miguel Flemming, Director of Agriculture Ms Jeanelle Kelly and other staff within the ministry, joined the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture.
