The Ministry of Environment, Climate Action & Constituency Empowerment is searching for candidates to fill the position of program officer and Senior Clerk Work. 

 Programme Office

Location: Unit C21, Sands Complex Division/Department: Climate Action Unit Reports to Chief Technical Officer.

Description of Post

The position’s primary objective is to facilitate the coordination and monitoring of national-level climate change program activities.

The role involves providing specialised support on climate change adaptation and relief issues for policy and projects, including program development, knowledge management, capacity building, monitoring, and reporting.

ROLE and Skills Required 

  •  The position involves participating in various meetings, seminars, conferences, and workshops related to climate change adaptation and mitigation. 
  • The candidate will present climate change adaptation and mitigation-related information at public interest, governmental, international, or other meetings. 
  • They will also assist in developing Strategic/Operational Plans and budgets for the Climate Action Unit (C.A.U.) as part of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Action. 
  • The candidate must have excellent analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a results-oriented attitude. 
  • They must also have sound knowledge of climate change issues and agreements and the ability to produce well-structured reports. 

The salary ranges from K22 to K27 ($38,148-$47,388) per annum.

Senior Clerk position

The Senior Clerk position is part-time and requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of prior office administration experience. 

The role involves performing advanced clerical and administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the Department of Environment, C.A.P.

 Responsibilities include 

  • answering phone calls,
  •  copying, 
  • sorting, 
  • filing records; 
  • preparing letters,
  •  memos, forms,
  •  reports; 
  • maintaining filing systems;
  •  managing calendars; 
  • scheduling appointments; 
  • recording minutes;
  •  conducting inventory; 
  • coordinating activities
  • ensuring confidentiality
  • security of sensitive information. 

The salary ranges from K22 to K27 ($38,148-$47,388) per annum.
