Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) in collaboration with Medical University of the Americas (MUA) offer opportunity to individuals interested in Health Sciences to apply for the NIA & MUA scholarship by June 3.
According to the information, the two students will receive a chance to attain the scholarships to pursue their undergraduate course at an accredited higher-education institution. The scholarship will support the students for up to four years in the following universities:
- The Medical University of the Americas (MUA)
- The University of the West Indies
- The University of Technology
- Any four-year United States-based institution
It is to be noted that the individuals who are already attending the University are not eligible for this scholarship. NIA and MUA have introduced an eligible criterion which should be fulfilled by every student before applying for scholarships.
- The person should be a citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis
- He/she must be at least eighteen-years-old
- The student must be active in community service
- They must have university acceptance letter
- The student must have at least five CXC CSEC passes including English, Mathematics, English and one science
The subjects open for the students under this scholarship including Environmental Health (Health Inspector), Pharmacy, Dental Hygiene, Physical Therapy, Occupational/ Speech Therapy, Health Services Administration, Health Educator, Counselling, Biomedical Engineering, Radiography, Health Information Management, Supply Chain Management, Social Work and Gender and Development Studies.
Noting this, the scholarship is not limited to these subjects only. However, in case of any doubt, the person should check the official website of NIA and MUA. The applications will be considered only when the applicants have the following documents.
- Complete Application Form
- Birth or naturalization certificate
- Passport Sized Picture
- Police Record
- Copy of acceptance letter form tertiary institution
- Certified copies of CXC/CSEC/CAPE passes
- Official costing of programme including tuition, room and board etc
- Letter of reference from high school teacher
- Letter of reference from a community service organization stating the active involvement of the student
- Eight hundred- one thousand (800-1000) word essay stating your future goals and why the student deserves this scholarship
The students are called to submit their applications by the deadline and they should be typewritten and submitted in hard copy. The application forms will be submitted to the Chairperson of MUA/ NIA Scholarship Committee, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Administration Building at Charlestown in Nevis.
