The Ministry of Human Resources in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) presented awards to three exemplary public servants for their dedicated service to the public sector of the island nation.
The three public servants, including Venrick Newton, Craig David, and Ezekiel Parris, were awarded during the Ministry of Human Resources 2025 Orientation Seminar by Training Officer Shanola Murray-Gill.
Premier Mark Brantley and Kevin Barrett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Human Resources, presented the honorees with plaques and special gifts of appreciation.
Venrick Newton
Venrick Newton was presented with the Outstanding Messenger and Delivery Service Award for his continuous services for over two decades. Newton originally served as Fisheries Field Assistant, but is now promoted to the position of Marine Field Assistant in the Department of Marine Resources.
Officer Murray-Gill described Venrick Newton as a friendly and energetic individual and a dedicated, hard-working officer. She further said that he always brightens the room with his greetings, small talk, and positive spirit.
Craig David
Craig David was honored with the Innovative Thinker Award for his unmatchable contributions in the field of information technology. David has been a civil servant for more than twenty years and has served various roles, including computer analyst, systems analyst, and assistant director. He currently works as IT Director for the NIA.
He was described as very passionate about his job type of a person by Officer Murray-Gill. She said that David always keeps his department up to date with technology’s consistent evolution.
Ezekiel Parris
Ezekiel Parris was awarded the Ultimate Team Player Award for his selfless service and reliability in the civil service sector, since he started working in 2004. Parris has worked as a Valuation Officer at the Island Revenue Department. He, at present, is a systems technician in the Information Technology Department.
Officer Murray-Gill stated that Ezekiel Parris is a very dedicated, helpful, and approachable type of person and always assists other no matter how busy he is.
