Concerned Citizens Movement-led Nevis Island Administration is highly invested in ensuring efficient waste management. On Wednesday, The NIA received a shipment of 2 new garbage trucks and other heavy equipment for the landfill.
Premier Brantley remarked that this is a significant investment on the end of the NIA to ensure that the government may be able to cater to the needs of the people of Nevis in a better way.
The Premier and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Mark Brantley, took to social media and announced the development.
In the Facebook post, he wrote.
“Today, the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority received a shipment of 2 new garbage trucks and other heavy equipment for the landfill. This is a significant investment from the Nevis Island Government in ensuring that we better serve the needs of the Nevisian public.”
Talking about the significance of waste management, the Premier said that cleaning propels the notion of a healthy life and a safe, pollution-free environment. He stated that waste management has an inverse relationship with disease-free health.
He said, “Effective waste management is critical to ensuring the healthiness of the island.”
Further in the post, Brantley extended his thankfulness to the Board of Directors of NSWMA, the General Manager Andrew Advisor Prentice and his team for their efforts to ensure the cleanliness of the island.
He wrote, “I thank the Board of Directors of NSWMA, the General Manager Andrew Advisor Prentice and his team for their indefatigable efforts to keep Nevis clean and health.”
Following the clean-sweep victory of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Premier Brantley and the other members of CCM have outlined several initiatives embarked on by the government.
Earlier this week, Premier Brantley met with the Fire Services officers, where he was given information on issues impacting the officers and service delivery to Nevis. He thanked their fire officers for their hard work and commitment to keeping us safe and committed to continuing to work with them and the Federal government in delivering exceptional service to Nevis.
