St Kitts and Nevis: The St Kitts Ministry of Education and the Government of St Kitts and Nevis has officially handed over two newly renovated school bathrooms to Halliday Smith Primary School and Washington Archibald High School.
The significant event took place on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the respective schools where the new bathrooms have been furnished.
The Deputy Prime Minister, also the Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley shared the glimpses from his visit to the schools where the newly renovated bathrooms have been provided.
Sharing the highlights on his official Facebook account, the education minister noted that two newly renovated school bathrooms were officially handed over today. He mentioned that the Government and Education Ministry are serious about upgrading the institutions to ensure safe environments for the staff and students.
With this act, a total of five renovated bathrooms have been provided to schools in the past two years. Significantly, the schools that have benefitted from this so far are Tucker Clarke Primary School, Charles E Mills Secondary School, Cayon High School, Halliday Smith Primary School, and Washington Archibald High School (WAHS).
Minister Hanley commended the contractors for their high quality work and skilful craftsmanship. “Truly an amazing job,” he added.
Through his social media post, he also expressed that as the Minister of Education, he is humbled to lead this movement towards improving the schools of St Kitts and Nevis in just a short time.
Notably, the WAHS handing over event got emotional as the principal of the school highlighted that those set of bathrooms had not been operational for over a decade.
In addition to this, it is the intention of the ministry to improve all school environments. The ministry also urged the principals, teacher, students, and the community to be patient as they work to improve the schools of the Federation.
