Konris Maynard, the newly appointed Minister of Public Utilities, Transport, Information, Communication, Technology, and Post, and a member of the cabinet of Dr Terrance Drew, made an inaugural visit to the St Kitts Electricity Company Ltd (SKELEC) on August 18, 2022.
The walk-through of the company began at the Administration Building located on Central Street, Basseterre, then proceeded to the Transmission and Distribution Building, Generation Building, and Annex Building at Needs must.
Konris Maynard received congratulatory remarks from the employees of the company. Further, he was also given explanations of the roles of each department by the employees throughout the company.
Maynard, who is responsible for working with the ministries of Public Utilities, Transport, Information, Communication, Technology, and Post ministries, said that he is looking forward to exploring greener energy and introducing electric vehicles later.
Maynard expressed that he was excited to join the SKELEC family and looked forward to the work they could do together. Further, he said that he was pleased after meeting the team and looked forward to sharing his knowledge with the team while investing in new technologies and advancements of the company,”
For the inaugural visit, Konris Maynard was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of Public Infrastructure et al., Mr Daryl Lloyd, Communications Officer of Public Infrastructure Ms Che-Raina Warner, and the General Manager of SKELEC, Mr Clement Williams.
