The prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis and leader of the SKNLP, Dr Terrance Drew, has shared the lineup for the events to celebrate Labour Day in the country. St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, the oldest and the first political party in the English-speaking Caribbean to be associated with the Labour Movement, has organized several events to commemorate the occasion of Labour Day.
Labour Day is a highly significant event in the country’s history as it reflects on the various struggles and achievements that the government has recorded in the tenure of their nationhood and before. The St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party came into existence in 1932 and has played a highly significant role in the history of the country’s various accomplishments.
On Monday, May 1, 2023, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party has scheduled several events to commemorate the Labour Day. First, all the people of St Kitts and Nevis will meet their respective parliamentary representatives for the labour day Parade. The Parade will start from Patsy Allers Play field and pass through Basseterre.
All the attendants were provided special labour-themed shirts to attend the Parade, show their support for the political party, and commemorate the historically significant occasion. The Parade will start at 10:00 AM. Following this, the people of St Kitts and Nevis will travel back to the Patsy Allers Playfield for the Concert commemorating the event.
The Concert will further also have the attendance of all the leaders of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, including the Party Leader and Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of SKNLP, Dr Geoffrey Hanley and other ministers of the Labour Party. Entry to the Concert is free for all the attendants.
