Ambassador Jonel Powell, Chairman of the Peoples Action Movement (PAM), is distancing himself from an agreement he signed in his capacity as Managing Director and Legal Counsel for B&L Worldwide for the development of Nevis’ Vance Amory International Airport in 2019.
Asked to update the nation on the project during Thursday’s edition of Freedom 106.5 FM’s Issues programme, Mr Powell responded: “The airport deal, please don’t give the wrong impression, Jonel Powell nor Grant and Powell is involved in the airport deal. My firm Grant and Powell represents a client who is, who had entered an arrangement with the NIA (Nevis Island Administration) and NASPA (Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority), not Jonel Powell nor Grant and Powell. So anything in relation to that must be directed to the client. I have no authority to speak on behalf of the client on that.”
During the signing ceremony, Powell, who signed on behalf of B&L Worldwide Ltd said the project will improve the infrastructure, increase the airlift and the travel experience coming through the Vance W. Amory International Airport and gave the assurance that the investor would not take over the airport.
Nothing has happened since.
