Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Dr Terrance Drew, recieved the St. Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Health Breastfeeding Policy during a brief yet significant ceremony hosted on Friday, August 4, 2023. The St. Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Health presented the presentation while they met Dr Terrance at the Prime Minister’s Office.
A delegation from the Ministry of Health which included Permanent Secretary, Dr Sharon Archibald; Nutrition Surveillance Coordinator, Latoya Matthew-Duncan, Nutrition Officer Chere Ann Weaver, as well as PAHO Country Representative, Anneke Wilson were present at the Prime Minister’s office when the delegation presented the minister of health in the country, Dr Terrance Drew.
The Minister of health, Dr Terrance Drew commemorated the breastfeeding week in the country by recieving the country’s breastfeeding policy from the hands of the ministry of health representatives.
According to the update shared by the ministry of health in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, The presentation of the Breastfeeding Policy to Prime Minister came as the Nutrition Surveillance Programme, within the Ministry of Health, commemorates Breastfeeding Week 2023. The breastfeeding week celebration was hosted under the theme: “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents.”
The Ministry of Health is hosting several significant events to mark the occasion of world breastfeeding week starting from August 3, 2023. The ministry of health recently hosted the breastfeeding congresss where the new and expecting mothers recieved some valuable information from the various experts and medical practitioners.
The medical practitioners got the chance to interact with several new and expecting mothers during the session. The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew is highly dedicated to ensuring that the country’s people can continue to get access to quality healthcare.
In line with the mandate of the administration, the doctors and nurses of the federation, especially the maternity ward have arranged the breastfeeding congress for the new and inexperienced mothers, and help them in understanding the needs and requirements of the new experience.
