Right before the new school session started for 2022-23, on Monday, September 5, Minister of Education Geoffery Hanley hosted a meeting with senior officials within the Ministry of Education to discuss the way forward amongst other relevant matters.
The Minister of Education stated, “I have a schedule of meetings with just about all the stakeholders in Education that I have started to meet with, and now we are here with Senior Leadership, which I would dub the Ministry’s engine.”
He stated that he was excited to be able to serve as (your) Minister of Education and that he looks forward to the support of everyone. He also said that the meeting this afternoon is not in any formal setting. It is an opportunity for people to listen to you, listen to your challenges in your various departments and hear your many success stories.”
He noted that doing so would put (him) in a position to be able to lobby for more on behalf of Education. We are fortunate that I am the Minister of Education and the Minister with responsibility for the STEP Programme. Therefore, this gives us a great advantage of access to resources you might not have readily around you,” said Minister Dr Hanley.
During the meeting, Minister of Education Dr Hanley urged the senior officials to be proactive in identifying areas where their different departments would need support,
He assured them that St Kitts and Nevis’s government would provide all the necessary support to the education ministry for achieving all the outlined objectives.
“It is essential for you as senior leadership to look at each unit you manage and provide your wish list of those things you will need.”
Minister Hanley assured the senior officials that every support would be provided to the various parties, as (SKNLP Led Government) controls that now. He added, “if you do not get it, it will be because you did not ask.”
He expressed that he was eager to hear what the senior officials may have to say and the many suggestions they might have to bring to the ministry’s attention.
