Basseterre, St. Kitts: The highly anticipated Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) officially launched the Generative AI and Python Summer Camp 2024. The launch took place on July 15, 2024.

The ECCU launched Summer Camp 2024 has been launched under the theme ‘Nurturing a Culture of innovation and Technical Proficiency among Youth Learners,’ and will run for five weeks.

The advancement of this event marks the beginning of an educational programme that is designed to introduce students to the wide field of Artificial intelligence and Python programming.

The participants were briefed with the importance of this programme was underscored by the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Timothy Antoine.

He noted that this course is an investment for the future and said “This is about you, your future. What we are doing today is giving you an opportunity to seek possibilities for when you can find your job or create your job.”

On behalf of Ambassador Michael Lin, Third Secretary in Taiwanese Embassy in St. Kitts and Nevis, Damien I-Ching Lui, gave remarks reflecting on the programme.

He urged the young participants to seize and benefit from the opportunities provided. He also stated how the things that you learn from this programme will help in near future.

“To the young minds present here, I urge you to seize this opportunity with great enthusiasm and determination. The knowledge and skills you acquire today will be invaluable assets in your journey towards a brighter future,” Damien mentioned.

Sybil Welsh, the Senior Project Specialist, ECCB, also reflected on the programme and laid down the objective of the camp.

“We want to make sure our young people get embedded in the 4th and 5th generation revolutionary skills in terms of technology,” he stated. The facilitators will make ample use of vast interactive tool kits that will reference real events and scenarios on which the participants will work.

Notably, the Generative AI and Python Summer Camp 2024 offers a curriculum that covers fundamental concepts as well as advanced topics. Participants will also be offered projects in the real-world, guided by experienced industry mentors.

The Summer camp represents the dedication of ECCU in rapid growing world to advancing technological education and preparing students for their future careers.
