The St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) rolls into St Christopher 6 (Newton Ground to Harris’) with a Public Meeting this evening (Thursday).
On his weekly radio programme “Ask the Leader” on Tuesday night, Dr Douglas said that the Next Gen SKN Labour Government when it wins the upcoming general elections will pursue a number of projects.
He said the Kittitian Hill project will be completed with three boutique hotels which have had several challenges since the Harris-led coalition has been in office for the past five years.
Dr Douglas accused Dr Harris of being spiteful and vindictive against the people of St Christopher 6.
“I want to make sure that we understand that we shall resuscitate the plans and the programmes for the Cappisterre Farm that was developed by the Labour Government with diversified food products that will have high value impact on the food security of St Kitts and Nevis. We would highlight on Thursday night, how we would operationalise the branded Ramada Hotel that will bring over 500 new jobs for the people of Newton Ground, St Paul’s, Dieppe Bay, Parsons, Pogson, Lynches, Lavington, Saddlers and Harris’ and other areas of the country,” said Dr Douglas.
He advanced plans for the construction of a marina in the area which will also provide docking facilities for passenger vessels travelling between St Kitts and the nearby Dutch and French islands of Saba, St Eustatius, St Maarten and St Barths. He said this development would involve the introduction of customs and immigration services.
A modern sporting complex will be developed in the area of Caines’ Pasture to provide recreational and other facilities for the residents of Parsons and Dieppe Bay. The sporting complex in Newton Ground will be enhanced and a health center will be constructed for the people of that area.
He said the NextGen SKN as it did in the previous terms in government, will continue to revolutionise housing not only in St Christopher 6, but throughout the federation.
Dr Douglas disclosed that one of the first tasks of the NextGen Minister of Education will be to deal with the existing problems in the lab facilities at the Saddlers Secondary School.
