CPL 2022: In the 17th match of the tournamnent, Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots were faced with Jamaica Tallawahs. They managed to secure their second victory in the CPL 2022 Tournament by 8 wickets by the DLS Method.
The match was hosted at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain,Trinidad and Tobago. The SKN Patriots won the toss and decided to field first. The opening batsmen of the Jamaica Tallawahs, Brandon King and Kennar Lewis of propelled their team to a fast start with 43 runs off four overs.
The Patriots were pulled out of an impending crisis when the Akila Dananjaya and Rashid Khan took some crucial wickets, reviving the chances of their team in the match. At the end of the innings, the Tallawahs made 139/5 runs off 20 overs and set the target of 140.
Due to unexpected rains, the overs were reduced to 15 and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots needed 113 scores through the DLS method to win the match. Andre fletcher’s fabulous innings of 45 runs not out led the Patriots to a comfortable victory. His innings was supported equally by a number of big hits coming from the bats of Evin Lewis and Darren Bravo
Jamaica Tallawahs got off a sublime opening during their innings, King and Lewis started off well before Khan took the wicket of Lewis in the powerplay.
Highest run-scorer and captain of Jamaica Tallawahs, Rovman Powell, got run out after a brilliant piece of fielding from youngster Dewald Brevis which brought the Tallawahs in trouble.
But, a late partnership between Fabian Allen and Reifer managed to gain them another 39 runs to the total score. The Tallawahs finally ended on 139/5.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots managed to chase to 49-0 after the first five overs, with Lewis and Fletcher playing undefeated.
However, Imad Wasim got struck with the first ball of his inning, causing Lewis to be removed, but then Darren Bravo came in and made a 55-run partnership with Fletcher, taking St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to an eight-wicket win against Jamaica Tallawahs (DLS).
