Basseterre, St Kitts: Minister of Education Dr Geoffrey Hanley shared that the Cayon High School would delay the physical re-opening of the school and will continue with the Hybrid Model of teaching and learning, waiting for the Mold Testing results.
During his Annual Back-to-School address, Minister Hanley relayed this information and stated that the Ministry is still not satisfied with the previous Mold testing results and that they have deployed a new strategy of UV Light to kill the Mold.
In the UV light method, the power of ultraviolet light will offer a non-toxic way to eliminate Mold spores without leaving any chemical residue behind.
The Minister said that prioritising the safety of the staff and students, Cayon High School will remain on a hybrid model of teaching for the new term. This means that some students will receive face-to-face instructions while others will attend classes online.
Despite of the physical closing of the school, the institution will still host its reopening general assembly at the Cayon Marovian Church at 9 in the morning.
At the end of the assembly students enrolled in Second to Fourth Form will return home. The students of Form One will make their way to the Cayon Primary School for orientation.
Significantly, to ensure that no child is left behind as the school remains on remote learning, the St Kitts Ministry of Education resumed the distribution of laptops for students in Form Three. The schedule time for the distribution and collection of laptops was 2:00 pm.
