St Kitts and Nevis’ young athletes achieved seven CARIFTA – qualifying marks at the SKNA KFC Classic Track Meet this past weekend. The athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the event with their hard work and dedication.
The winners of this Track Meet will get marks that will help them qualify in the 38th edition of CARIFTA Games 2025, to be held in Trinidad and Tobago.
Athletes delivering seven qualifying performances
- Jemardh Huggins (Long Jump & High Jump) – Etonics Track and Field Club
- Tejuan Webbe (U20 110m Hurdles) – Outer Limits Athletics Club
- J’Zhavier Amory (U17 Shot Put) – A-1 Titans Track and Field Club
- Yudel Wisdom (U20 Shot Put) – Phase Track and Field Club
- Josano Henderson (U17 Javelin) – Etonics Track and Field Club
- Jaylen Hendrickson (U17 Triple Jump) – Gingerland Secondary School (GSS)
Minister Samal Duggins congratulates winners
Minister of Sports and Creative Economy, Samal Duggins, congratulated the athletes on achieving seven CARIFTA – qualifying marks.
He also congratulated Troy Nisbett and Skyla Connor, who have been selected to represent the twin island nation at the 38th CARIFTA Aquatic Championships.
CARIFTA Games
CARIFTA Games is an annual athletics competition, first held in 1972 by the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA). It includes various track and field competitions in two age groups (U17 and U20), such as races, hurdles, jumping and throwing events, relays, and many more.
St Kitts and Nevis finished at the 12th place among 28 participating countries in the 2024 CARIFTA Games, with three athletes securing silver medals.
CARIFTA Games 2025
The 2025 CARIFTA Games are to be held in Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago from April 19 to April 21, 2025, with over 20 teams participating from all across the Caribbean region. It will include a total of 68 track and field events.
