Cricket West Indies held a special meeting with its Full Member shareholders on February 9, 2025. The meeting was held to get the approval to initiate a set of governance reforms to advance the organization’s administrative structure, prioritize transparency, accountability, and secure a prosperous future for West Indies cricket.
CWI has been undergoing lengthy discussions with the shareholders over the past few years to get the approval for the reforms. This special meeting yielded positive results with member shareholders agreeing to initiate the reforms.

Shareholders who attended this special meeting were the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA), Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), Leeward Islands Cricket Board (LICB), Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB), and Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB).
Key Reforms
Board and Leadership Structure
• Terms of President and Vice – President will be limited to three terms of three years each with their term extending from two years to three years
• More Female independent directors are to be appointed to the Board
• A Strategic Governance Committee will be established to strengthen governance and decision-making
Ethical and Compliance Measures
• An independently chaired Integrity & Dispute Resolutions Committee will be established to focus on ethics and disciplinary functions
• Strengthened Financial reporting and disclosure requirements for greater accountability
• Public release of annual reports for four consistent years to ensure transparency and accountability
• Annual audited financial statements released publicly to show financial responsibility
Financial Oversight and Risk Management
• Establishment of a Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee to enhance financial oversight and transparency
• Restructured Finance Department and implementation of a Business Situation Assessment & Financial Review
Gender Equality and Women’s Cricket development
• Business class travel for West Indies Senior Women’s team for long-haul international flights
• Single-room accommodations for the West Indies Senior Women’s team during international tours
• Establishment of a Women’s Cricket Transformation Committee to develop strategies for increasing female participation
• Greater investment in women’s cricket, including the launch of West Indies Women’s Academy Programme.
