Two persons have died, and five others got injured during a dramatic car chase and shootout which ended in tragedy on Tuesday along the Lilliput main road on the outskirts of Montego Bay, St James.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communication Unit confirmed the shooting and the two deaths.

It is believed that persons who were in a Honda CRV were involved in a shooting incident in the Rose Hall area, and they were being chased by the men in another car.

Both the vehicles raced along the Lilliput main road and exchanged gunshots and performed evasive driving manoeuvres through the traffic on the road.

During the car chase and shootout, the CRV went out of control and hit a bus before it hit a wall and a light pole.

The man driving the CRV died on the spot, and the driver of the bus also died.

The men in the other motor car which were chasing the CRV fled the scene.

The case is being investigated by the Montego Bay police.
